The main ingredient of Tei-fu Lotion is Gaultheria procumbens (American wintergreen), a plant found in eastern North America. The extract of this plant is known as “Wintergreen oil”. American wintergreen has acclaimed therapeutic properties. Applied to the skin, it has antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic and anti-pain effects.
Thanks to American wintergreen, Tei-fu Lotion is ideal for muscle aches and cramps, rheumatic or osteoporotic diseases. Menthol and camphor, on the other hand, make Tei-fu an excellent lotion. Menthol is used as a strong aromatic agent with anaesthetic and irritation-reducing properties of mucous membranes. Its inhalation gives freshness.
Owing to its properties, it is an ideal supportive agent that contributes to fighting running nose, colds and muscle pain. The well-known camphor, when used on the skin, has warming properties and its structure makes it very quickly and easily absorbed. The combination of camphor and menthol in Tei-fu Lotion is a recipe for an excellent warming and analgesic blend.
Traditional Thai massage, which gives a feeling of extraordinary lightness throughout the body and complete restoration of strength, is usually done using camphor and menthol oil.
Camphor is a traditional component of all Far Eastern painkillers and antiseptics. Camphor oil is extracted from the roots and wood of the camphor tree (it grows wild in China, Japan and Taiwan; the camphor in Tei Fu is obtained from trees specially grown in California and Canada). Due to its pronounced warming effect, it is widely used for colds, bronchitis, inflammation of the respiratory tract and ear.
Effectively relieves pain symptoms from arthralgia, myalgia, radiculitis, rheumatism. An excellent antiseptic – camphor oil is used to treat acne, wounds, and burns. The positive results of using camphor oil as a preventive measure for the development of bedsores are described. The characteristic pungent smell of camphor has both an invigorating and calming effect – it fills you with strength in case of depression, and promotes restful, sound sleep in case of insomnia.
Menthol is an organic compound isolated from peppermint. In addition to the irritant effect (causes a feeling of cold), it has an analgesic and antiseptic effect. In China, it is used to relieve pain from gout and neuralgia. It is enough to apply a drop of menthol to your temples to stop a migraine attack. Menthol is also often used for diseases of the upper respiratory tract. During the hot season, a massage with menthol oil refreshes and tones.
Clove oil is obtained from the buds of the clove tree (grows in Madagascar, Zanzibar, China, Sri Lanka, etc.). Contains more than 75% eugenol – a fragrant phenol that causes a powerful analgesic and local irritant effect. Widely used to relieve pain from sprains, muscle and rheumatic pain, and arthritis. Clove oil also restores strength, tones, relieves toothache, and is used in the complex treatment of colds and bronchitis.
Eucalyptus oil is considered by the Australian aborigines to be the most important component of their traditional medicine, with good reason – after all, eucalyptus oil has antiseptic and antibacterial, antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. Eucalyptus helps relieve arthritis, joint and muscle pain, radiculitis and headaches, improve carbohydrate metabolism and lower blood sugar levels, cure acne, inflammatory diseases of the male and female genital organs. Massage using eucalyptus oil relieves muscle tension, has an analgesic, disinfectant and regenerating effect on the skin, including after burns or frostbite.
Wintergreen essential oil is used for sprains and muscle strain, lumbago and rheumatic conditions. Effectively relieves pain, has anti-inflammatory, disinfectant, as well as astringent, antitussive and diuretic effects. The relief of pain is due to the double action of wintergreen oil – first warming and then cooling.
Aloe juice helps to dilate capillaries and, accordingly, improve blood flow, which determines its use to reduce inflammation and pain. In addition, aloe is traditionally used to accelerate the healing of wounds, cuts, burns, and skin irritations due to its ability to stimulate collagen synthesis and regenerate skin cells.
